19 May Sonship
I think that one of the most important questions we should answer is “Who you really are?” Not many people can answer it at once though. Many will think of their name, positions at work and ministry; or will base who they are on what they are doing. Some people will just say that this question has never actually come to their minds.
Understanding who we are in Christ or through Christ is the answer. At first, we come to Him as our Savior, Teacher and then He becomes our Brother, Elder Brother.
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. Romans 8:29
Don`t take me wrong, He still remains our precious Savior, Teacher but what the Lord is doing – He is uniting us with our Father and He wants us take the position that has always meant to be ours from the beginning. For this reason, He is calling us to see our destiny from another perspective – perspective of us being His younger brother and heir.
We can see it in Romans 9: 11-12 (Gen 25:23)
Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God’s purpose in election might stand: not by works but by him who calls—she was told, The older will serve the younger.
This is a prophetic picture of the elder brother Jesus serving his younger brother – us. He is helping us restore our inheritance and birthright. Through the story of Esau and Jacob, we see that Esau let Jacob receive the birthright. Twins who are just alike – means that Jesus and us are just alike
One of my good friends, Max Bievets, once had a deep vision on this topic. I would like to partially include it into this article, as, to my mind, it gives a perfect insight on Sonship. He saw the Father, Son and Holy Spirit standing together in a circle holding hands, then my friend appeared in this vision and the Father called him to approach and stand in the circle with Them. It is mind-blowing how God is literally calling a man to the Trinity fellowship, on equal rights. Max said: “I looked at the Father and asked “but You are God (meaning I can`t I stand among You Three)”, but He looked back at me, smiled and said: “I know who I am, do you understand who you are?” This pierced me so deep, as I knew what He meant. He was showing that I`ve been always the part of Him and that He has always meant it to be this way. Then He started explaining that He is a Triune God, but with me, He is four in One, with others He is five in One etc. It is a perfect unity. Inside of this unity you can clearly discern who is who..where is the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and a man, but outside this circle no one (angels, demons, creation) can discern the difference between us. It looks as a Trinity in all the Glory and when any of Them or even a man says a word, the whole spiritual world responds to it as His Word.”
In another vision several years apart, Max saw a crown that someone was about to receive (James 1:12; Psalm 68:21; Psalm 149:4; 1 Corinthians 9:25; 2 Timothy 2:5; Revelation 3:11) and the Lord let him see the story when Lucifer thought it was meant to be his and tried to stole it, thought it was always meant to be ours “before we did anything good or bad”. This picture might not fit traditional Theology, I won`t claim it as such, but digging into Romans 8-9, and based on Love, this picture is so perfect and true to me. As it would be the only deep reason why the Lord would willingly give everything who He is just for us get back into the glorious fellowship and inheritance. In all this journey Jesus is our best example, as He came from the Father, did only what the Father was showing Him to do, released real Love, called us into Father`s Love and inheritance and became the Way and only Door to go back to our Father.
Understanding of this leads to meekness through His Love. Just because Father treats us equally with Jesus, it creates equal compassion and honor inside of our hearts towards all men.
Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor. 1 Peter 2:17
It basically tells us to have the same level of honor to king and brother – all men. It is only possible when you know that you are a heir son of God, just like Jesus is – King, a man and a brother. There is no fullness if we think that we are only heirs, or only servants, or only disciples, but understanding that we are sons and daughters brings fullness in God.
I know that our spirit responds to Sonship, just like in Romans 8:22
We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.
We long to become sons, and see many sons to come to the Father. Once I was prophesying to boy age 6 or 7, and I started telling him that he is a son and how the Lord sees him, how the Lord wants to be in fellowship with him. After I stopped, I made sure he understood me, as I was speaking English, which is not my native language, and he said he did and he ran to his Mom. I never knew what happened after this, until his Mom found me on FB and texted me saying like “I have no idea how you prayed for my son and what you have told him, but he ran back to me crying and saying he wanted to accept Jesus into his heart”. They prayed together with their pastor and she was very happy and thankful.
That boy felt genuine Love of the Father and instantly ran into His heart, it was absolutely beautiful. And just like we can respond to Sonship accepting our crown, we can also forget and neglect our positions.
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. Revelation 3:11
Jesus is coming to gather His Harvest around the World, and He is entrusting it to His sons and daughters. Now like never before we should all get back track and be witnesses of His glorious victory of Love for the humanity
With love,
